Spotify AI DJ

Spotify has recently released a new AI capability called “DJ” which is designed to personalize the music listening experience for its users. This feature is similar to a radio DJ, and offers a selection of songs with AI-driven commentary about the artists and tracks that you appreciate. This commentary is delivered using a “stunningly realistic voice”.

The aim is for Spotify to get to know the users so well that it can choose music for them when they hit the play button. Spotify refers to this as having an “AI DJ in your pocket”.

The technology behind this is Generative AI, using OpenAI, and is managed by Spotify's music editors. It uses a dynamic AI voice platform from the Sonantic acquisition to provide text with a realistic voice.

The DJ feature is currently being rolled out in supported markets, so users may not see it immediately but should receive access soon.

Spotify is a Swedish audio streaming and media services provider, established in 2006 by Daniel Ek. The company is incorporated in Luxembourg as Spotify Technology S.A, and is based in Stockholm, Sweden, with offices in 17 countries worldwide.
